ARC buoys short-term planning reports

MineSight Interactive Planner- Material Manager (MSIP-MM) provides a highly customizable material routing and reporting interface for short-term planning. While it is designed to be used to assist in scheduling and routing material, its interface and reporting tools can be leveraged to generate robust ARC (Advanced Reporting and Charting) reserve reports for MSIP reserves. These reserves can be broken down by zone and cutoff bins, using the mechanism described below. The Material Manager can be accessed through Tools → Material Manager in the Cut Design window in MSIP.

The first step toward generating these advanced reports is to calculate and define reserve attributes, as shown below. This option is accessed under Settings → Reserve Attribution in MSIP-MM, and will allow zone and cutoff bins to be brought into and reported by Material Manager ARC reporting. Figure 1 shows the reserve attribute manager and the allocated source names. The “Zone” item is setting up bins by zone item; the “Material” item is setting up bins for both Zone and Cutoff; while the “Cutoff” item is setting up bins by cutoff. The “Mining Area” “Bench” and “Cut Name” items are bringing in other Cut Attributes from MSIP that can be used to break down the report. This step effectively enables ARC reporting for MineSight Interactive Planner reserves. Once this has been activated, reserves reports can be created through the “Summary” tab in MSIP-MM.

Advanced Reporting and Charting (ARC), MineSight’s standardized reporting interface, is featured increasingly throughout MineSight. The ARC interface provides highly customizable reporting and versatile charting in the summary tab. Quick assessment charts can be created on the fly by highlighting fields in the table. The breakdown of reports and items being reported can be manipulated through the “Field List” launched above the summary table. You can drag data types into the Data Area to add different grades, tonnages, or qualities to the report, or you can drag binning items into the Column or Row Area to break down the report into desired bins. The report below in Figure 3 was created by dragging Bench into the Column Area, Zone type in the Row Area, and Tonnes and Raw Ash% to the Data Area.

On the Summary Tab, Charts can be created on the fly by highlighting fields in the table. Following this method, the chart in Figure 3 was created by highlighting Raw Ash% to create a quick chart showing Raw Ash% by seam. Appearance of the chart can be customized using the Chart Wizard (Right Click Chart → Run Wizard).

Data and chart setups that are configured in Material Manager can be saved by going to the summary tab and selecting ‘save template as’. Automatic prompts are installed within Material Manager to prompt the user to this option if changes have been made or the data has not previously been saved. Through this methodology, it is easy to generate dynamically updating ARC reports that can be used to report MSIP reserve information.
