MINESIGHT CENTERSTAGE AT KEY AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE

Mintec’s Perth branch, MineSight Applications Australia, is preparing for a pivotal role at the AusIMM Open Pit Operators’ Conference in September. The event will feature a MineSight workshop and a tour of Newmont Boddington Gold Mine, a valued client of MineSight Applications.

The AusIMM represents more than 11,000 people working in the global minerals industry. Automations, Maximizing Throughput & Return is the theme for this year’s conference, to be held Sept. 18-19 in Perth, Western Australia. It’s an appropriate location as the state continues to lead the Australian mining industry with a solid position in the global commodity boom.

For its eighth annual conference, AusIMM decided to shift from solely large operations to more case studies and operations-based papers. Responding to that shift, MineSight Applications will present the conference workshop, “Mine Design, Reserving and Optimized Long Term Scheduling in MineSight”. At the workshop, participants will learn how to approach the traditional life-of-mine planning process with MineSight software. Attendees will hear how to design complex phase designs and generate bench reserves in MineSight. They will create an optimized life-of-mine schedule using MineSight Schedule Optimizer (MSSO) and produce reports and animations from the schedule.

The Boddington tour will comprise a one-day, drive-in, drive-out site visit, including a briefing on the operation and a surface tour. MineSight is a mainstay in Newmont’s other sites at Waihi Gold and PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (Batu Hijau Mine).

Another highlight of the conference program will be Xstrata Black Star’s presentation on MineSight Axis. The presentation is co-authored by MineSight Applications regional business development manager, Mark Gabbitus.
